What was a rich guy to do when he was stupidly bored, making faces at the fact that his normally four-person cabin was down to two and a hedgehog, and wanted to get his hands on something to help take the edge off?

Well, the cabins were named after candy, after all. And, while Warren had never really had the chance to indulge in, say, certain brand-names of candy while growing up, there was nothing keeping him from doing so now, right?

In spades?

Look, he had no frame of reference for things like, 'that is way too much money to spend on way too much candy.'

And that was why he was carrying a case of Spree into his cabin today. He'd been inspired.

This could only end in stomach ache.

[For the cabinmate! Unless you have some reason to be in Spree!]

Clearly, than Fandom gods were trying to tell them something. They just hadn't been listening.

"I like the playground," Karla admitted. "And taking care of the flowers and things. I just give the pond a wide berth." She dropped her eyes and tried not to blush. "We sorta almost nearly got arrested in the pond," she admitted.

"Arrested?" There was a moment there, where once again Warren demonstrated his capacity to open his mouth and say words before his brain supplied the proper ones. "By flamingos?"

In all fairness, it was totally possible here on Fandom Island.

"By the Fandom police," Karla said in a very small voice. "Possibly on behalf of the flamingos? Dinah, Momoko, and I were sort of...having an epic battle in the pond. They were trying to get the pieces back that I had burgled from the art gallery."

Wait. Perhaps yet more context was needed. "Burgled with permission," she clarified.

Well. That got a weird look from Warren, yes.

"They gave you permission to steal their stuff?"

...

"Wouldn't that make it borrowing? Or just... a gift?"

"Yes, they did, but no, it was burgling," Karla explained. "Okay, so Dinah and Momoko both want to go into police work, sorta," which was code for 'they're superheroes but I can't tell you that' "and both of them live in worlds where sometimes, the law enforcement has to go up against people with powers. So we agreed that to give them some practice with that, I'd pretend to be a criminal and they'd have to stop me."

...It should be stated, for the record, that this was another one of Karla's 'brilliant plans.'

"So I got permission from Sophie to burgle the gallery. She said it would make an excellent test of her alarm system. Then I dressed up like a supervillain and tried to heist." Heist was now a verb, apparently. "...I wasn't as sneaky as I thought, though, and I accidentally tripped an alarm. The police caught up with us as we were having an epic battle. In the flamingo pond."

See? This all made perfect sense!

It was time for another patented Worthington Long Silence.

"You know," Warren said at length, "that actually sounds really fun."

This could not possibly end well.

"Up until the police hauled us down to the station and we had to call Professor Cabot to be our lawyer? It was!" Karla said, nodding. "Well, okay, and discovering wet leather chafes is also less than fun."

It was going to end in tears, but until it did, it would be both awesome and epic.

"I've made it a personal vow to never end up in tight leather or spandex bodysuits," Warren shared, because this was absolutely a reasonable segue, why? "No matter what Bobby says. I'm aerodynamic enough in the clothing I already have."

"I think my logic was something like well, if I have a leather catsuit in my closet, I might as well wear it," Karla said cheerfully. "And what better opportunity than when I'm being an evil supervillain."

And now Warren was forming the necessary mental image. His imagination was working overtime, today.

"... Why do you have a leather catsuit in your closet?"

[glacial_queen]

"It appeared during one of those crazy weekends and just never left," Karla said. "I figure I have to wear it every so often just to keep Fandom appeased."

"... You know, I can't even argue with that kind of logic. Not after spending a weekend as a budgie."

At least he'd been a cute budgie.

"And now you have me wondering if the island is ever going to decide to stick me in an outfit to match, you know."

[glacial_queen]

"Well, now that you've mentioned it, you know the island will find some way to do so," Karla teased. "Though I won't complain about the view."

"Of course, you won't see much if we never move from this position," Warren added, grinning crookedly. "Maybe from the shoulders up, I suppose."

So, see, the island could make him wear whatever it wanted! That was perfectly sound logic.

"I like your shoulders," Karla informed him. "So it's still a very nice view."

He had wings. The amazing shoulders was kind of a given.

Upper body strength was somewhat important, so that he wouldn't do something silly like plummet to his untimely demise, yes.

"Well, then it's good to know that I'm not the only one here with a 'very nice view' at the moment."

She wasn't half-buried under another person, and so Warren was inclined to think that he, in fact, was the one with the better of the views in the room, thank you.

"Are you eying the mural again?" Karla said with a laugh. "That hurts, Warren. Really."

"It's the feathers," Warren chuckled. "I can't help it, they're eye-catching."

Weren't they? There was something about feathers...

"I might have noticed them a time or two," Karla conceded, running her fingers gently over his feathers. "On you, I mean. You know. Possibly."
