What was a rich guy to do when he was stupidly bored, making faces at the fact that his normally four-person cabin was down to two and a hedgehog, and wanted to get his hands on something to help take the edge off?

Well, the cabins were named after candy, after all. And, while Warren had never really had the chance to indulge in, say, certain brand-names of candy while growing up, there was nothing keeping him from doing so now, right?

In spades?

Look, he had no frame of reference for things like, 'that is way too much money to spend on way too much candy.'

And that was why he was carrying a case of Spree into his cabin today. He'd been inspired.

This could only end in stomach ache.

[For the cabinmate! Unless you have some reason to be in Spree!]

Tara was sitting on the couch in the living area, where she'd been referring Hedgehog vs. Cat: Round 37.

Keeping them apart was getting old.

"Hey, Warren," she called, firmly holding the hedgehog on her lap while Mr. Moxy glared at them both. "Wh-what do you have there?"

Warren cracked the faintest smile at the scene before him. After all, he was fairly certain that the hedgehog stood a better change against the cat than he had as a parakeet.

"Candy," he replied, hoisting the box up slightly so that she could get a better look. "I... got bored."

His shoulders were starting to protest to hauling this thing across the island. Yes, that was his first indication that he'd possibly gone slightly overboard.

"Candy," Tara repeated, blinking at Warren in a way that asked (politely) whether he'd gone insane. "That's, um. That's a lot of candy. You could have a big party and give everybody a sugar rush.."

She set Kennedy down firmly and stood. "Can I see?"

She had no particular need to see it; she'd just never seen that much candy outside a store, and was curious.

"By all means."

Warren was nothing if he wasn't amiable, really. He took a moment to wrinkle his nose and then kind of look around while he tried to figure out where to put it, and then settled for sweeping what was on the coffee table carefully to the side before depositing the case there.

It made a pretty impressive 'Whud!' sound. And then he was prying the case open to show the ridiculous amount of candy within.

"You can, uh... Probably just take some, too, for that matter."

Tara took a tube and poured a few fruit-flavored candies out into her hand, then popped one into her mouth. She giggled around the strawberry taste, eying Warren speculatively.

"I don't want to sound rude?" she observed. "But do you have any idea what you're doing with that much candy?"

By now, Kennedy was sniffing at her hand, stealing a lemon candy with delicate teeth.

Warren even had the good grace to look a little sheepish as he reached for a tube of candy of his own.

"I don't know," he admitted. "I was thinking maybe I could pass them around the other cabins, if this is too much. All glory to Spree, right?"

It was pro-Spree propaganda, pure and simple.

It was also pretty tasty.

"We could totally do that," Tara said, sounding a bit abashed she'd asked the question. "Like, 'here is a present from Spree, we are awesome.'"

Kennedy made a chittering noise, as if she agreed. Tara gave her another piece of candy in thanks.

"I mean, it'll probably keep," she said thoughtfully. "Sugar usually does."

"Heck, we could have a Spree party, or something." A pause, and then becuase apparently Warren couldn't resist a bad joke, "A Spree spree."

Classy, Warren.

Giggling, Tara tossed an (orange) piece of candy at his head. "That was horrible, Warren."

Raven totally had a reason to be at the Spree cabin. It was because that was where Warren was. And she had Questions to ask him about his intentions toward Karla. Questions she would ask in a terribly subtle way, of course.

She tapped on the door and poked her head in to see if Warren was about. How convenient that he was!

Warren glanced up from important candy-overload issues, offering Raven a twitch of a smile.

"Hey there. Can I help you?" A pause, and then he looked at the case in front of him. "Candy?"

Take some. Please.

"You have a case of candy," Raven noted, momentarily distracted and stating the obvious. "Did all the cabins come with them?"

"They didn't," Warren replied, leaning forward to stare into the box. They had a long way to go before it would even approach being empty, apparently. "I just sort of went out and bought this on a whim."

"Oh, that is what Spree is?" Raven said, stepping inside to peer into the box. "I am unfamiliar with most of these candies the cabins are named for."

"To be honest, so am I," admitted Warren as he pulled out a tube of the candy and held it out Raven's way. "I didn't exactly grow up in a candy-friendly household. Mine was more the 'eat your broccoli before you can have your spinach' type."

"Thank you," Raven said, turning the tube over in her hands and inspecting it. "I will have to try some later. But the reason I am here is because I wished to speak to you."

"To speak with me?" That got him blinking, yes. "Me, me? This isn't a Magic Reserve leader house-call, then?"

Believe it or not, Warren, sometimes people did swing by places with you in mind, yes. You were exactly one-half of the human population of this cabin at present, after all.

[glacial_queen]

"Kiss kiss!" Karla called, ducking her head into the Spree cabin's front door. "I just got back from a weekend of not-getting-into-any-trouble-really and was looking for company. Anyone around?"

Okay, so Karla might have been looking for Warren specifically, but it wasn't like he didn't share a cabin with several people she liked. She figured this was a safe enough bet.

"That completely depends on whether or not you're here to interrogate me, or laugh at me for gluing myself to a wall."

Yes. That was an excellent way to say hello to the pretty girl you like, Warren.

"So, what trouble didn't you get into, then?"

[glacial_queen]

"I didn't know either was an option, but I'm going to go with the second option," Karla decided, grinning at him from the doorway. "You glued yourself to a wall?"

Which was an excellent way to ignore that other pesky question that her greeting really ought to have made it clear that she'd been good all weekend. Really!

"Though if I'm not wanted, I can always go back to my cabin..." she said, pretending to pout.

"There's a whole couch," Warren pointed out, shimmying over a little bit and gesturing to the empty spot beside him. "You're more than welcome to it, Karla."

And now it was time for both of them to dance around subjects that they'd brought up on their own anyhow. Right?

"Since I'm not stuck to the wall anymore, and all."

"I get the whole thing?" Karla asked, skipping over to the couch and sprawling out on it. And if that just so happened that she ended up with her head resting on Warren's shoulder? Lucky coincidence.

"So, I want to hear all about this gluing mishap," she said, smiling. "And who's been interrogating you now? I swear, I left all my relatives in Kaeleer."

Head on shoulder? Happy place. Warren could live with this particular arrangement, yes. Easily.

"Raven," he replied, smiling at her and shrugging the shoulder that she wasn't propped up against. "And the glue thing was... Well."

He pointed toward the wall that had their masterpiece Spree mural on it. Near the bottom were the remnants of a couple of feathers, as well.

"Not my crowning achievement, let's say."

"Is that...candy on the walls?" Karla asked, peering at their mural. It looked tasty, discarded feathers aside. "Do I even want to know?"

She didn't really think she did. Except for that part where she totally did, because it sounded hilarious.

"Your poor wings. They've been so abused this week!" she chided. She lightly brushed her fingers along the one closest to her. "I guess you really do need someone to keep an eye on you, don't you?"

"I'm beginning to wonder," Warren admitted, laughing softly. "That is candy, yeah. This cabin's namesake."

...

"Which I have plenty of. Please take some. The less candy I have to eat myself, the less chances for me to accidentally glue myself to walls when I bend over, reaching for more candy. Tara and I were bored."
