What was a rich guy to do when he was stupidly bored, making faces at the fact that his normally four-person cabin was down to two and a hedgehog, and wanted to get his hands on something to help take the edge off?

Well, the cabins were named after candy, after all. And, while Warren had never really had the chance to indulge in, say, certain brand-names of candy while growing up, there was nothing keeping him from doing so now, right?

In spades?

Look, he had no frame of reference for things like, 'that is way too much money to spend on way too much candy.'

And that was why he was carrying a case of Spree into his cabin today. He'd been inspired.

This could only end in stomach ache.

"Kennedy doesn't have opposable thumbs," Warren pointed out, "and Bobby's not even on the island. It would take a lot of skill for either of them to accomplish that."

He had a point. Sort of. If you squinted.

"And the buzz from all of the sugar I've been eating is starting to wear off," he added. "If you want to share, I wouldn't protest. And if you don't, I might end up just falling asleep like this."

It would be cozy.

Karla's thoughts were also trending towards how cozy it would be to fall asleep like this. She wasn't crashing from a sugar high, just a weekend of hiking, fighting, and then walking around Rome.

All right, she might share a few and then figure out where to go from there.

She shifted a bit, tucking her feet up on the couch and leaning a little more heavily on Warren--he'd speak up if he minded, right?--before offering some of the candies to him. "Well, that explains the gluing yourself to the wall bit. Now what was that about Raven coming to interrogate you? Raven's not really the interrogatey-type."

"You have a lot of people who care about you enough to speak up," Warren replied, shrugging lightly and holding out his hand for the offered candy.

No, he totally didn't mind her leaning on him this way. It was comfortable.

"Raven is one of them. She wanted to make sure that I didn't have any bad intentions."

"Not even a few bad intentions?" Karla teased. "One or two? If not 'bad' intentions, exactly, how about some mischievous ones? Tricksy intentions? Perhaps-not-entirely-pure intentions?"

"Well, if they weren't entirely pure, I wouldn't have told Raven," Warren pointed out. "I barely know her."

For that matter, he really didn't tell Bobby or Bod, either. And he didn't have many other 'guy friends' on the island that he could talk about that sort of thing with.

"I don't think the mischief is much of a secret, though."

"So no bad intentions at all then?" Karla asked, tilting her head up to look at him. "You can tell me you know. I'm good at keeping secrets."

"I don't know," Warren mused, "are delicious lunches classified as bad intentions, nowadays? I might need a point of reference to work from. Sheltered life, and all."

He was grinning at her, yes.

"No, those are quite firmly on the good intentions side." Karla was happy to explain these things to the poor, sheltered boy. "Picnics involve feeding me, which is always good, and prevent me from stealing food from other people, which is even better. In fact, I think the people of Fandom might owe you a thank you for undertaking such a monumental task."

"I think I understand, now," laughed Warren, the newly enlightened. "But I might need an explanation of bad intentions, yet. I don't suppose being the getaway vehicle after a boxer raid counts, either."

Karla pretended to think about it for a minute. "Getaway vehicle falls closer to mischievous intentions I think. Did Raven give you any ideas about what she considered bad intentions? Since her interrogation started this whole thing."

"She mentioned our date," he replied, and then he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. "I confirmed that we went on one, and mentioned that we had curry. So she asked if it was some kind of physical act."

There was a long pause, then, and he found himself grinning in spite of himself.

"We need to have curry more often."

Karla was quiet after that. If Warren glanced down, he would see that it was because Karla was laughing silently, her hands clapped over her mouth.

"Hell's fire, Mother Night, and may the Darkness be merciful!" she said eventually. "She asked you that. What on earth did she think we were doing?"

There was a joke, about whatever physical act curry translated to, it would be 'hot,' but Karla was not about to make it.

"I think wanting more curry might fall under bad intention," she decided. "At least, if we're going with Raven's definition."

"We're going to have to have curry more often," Warren decided. "But then I have to wonder what the pineapple alludes to. And what it means if we both get extra."

"Kisses, of course," Karla said easily. "Because they can be stolen."

She flushed a little as she caught his eye. "And because you can always ask for more."

Well, there was a good way to get Warren blushing!

It was a good way to get Warren blushing and awkward and chewing his lip, a goofy little smile trying to assert itself as his dominant expression.

And, truth be told, it was a good way to get Warren to hold his breath as he faced her, leaning closer to her, just a little.

"I always knew there was a reason I liked pineapple so much."

"They're sweet and soft and exciting, too," Karla breathed, keeping her gaze locked with his. "And they go well with other things, too." She tilted her face just a bit and leaned closer, too.

"Other... things..."

He could feel her breath. And it was driving Warren crazy. Crazy enough to bridge that gap. Crazy enough to exhale in a short breath of a laugh as he bumped his nose against hers, and then closed his eyes, and then--

She had lips. His lips had to be pressing against her lips. Now.

Pineapple.

Oh! Ooooh. Karla had hoped that he might take that invitation to kiss her, but hadn't entirely thought he would. And hadn't been quite sure enough of herself to kiss him instead.

But then he had and he still was and, oh, it was nice yes.

Her eyes, which had widened in surprise, fluttered closed and she reached up with one hand to press it against his cheek, holding him closer. Just in case he had any thoughts of backing away...

Backing away where? Into the arm of the couch? He didn't particularly want to go anywhere, anyhow, though he did have to shift his weight a little bit. His wings could only take so much more punishment after the week they'd had. So, if he sat her up a bit- and he didn't dare let his lips stray far from hers- then he could curl his wings forward slightly, around them.

This had the added bonus of not only keeping him from breaking more feathers, but also of blocking the view of their kiss from any prying eyes.

Karla wasn't going to argue with a little bit of repositioning, especially since Warren wasn't doing anything silly, like stopping the kiss while he did so. Plus, said repositioning ended with them kissing while wrapped in his wings, something she'd confessed to Emma about imagining only a few days ago.

Screw imagination. Reality was where it was at.

Her hand slid back, curling around his neck, fingers tangling a little in his hair and she made a little noise of approval in her throat.

Well, he really didn't know about that particular fantasy of hers. He'd mostly moved because he didn't want to either have to pluck out the broken feathers or spend the better part of the next year grounded, but if curling his wings around them was going to get responses like that, he was going to have to do it more often.

And with her fingers in his hair like that, he found himself getting a little bolder, reaching around her and trailing one hand along her back.

He'd worry about things like breathing? Later.

Karla shivered a bit as his fingers brushed her spine. She arched her back a little, lest he think it was anything but a good shiver. Holding him a bit tighter with the arm around his neck, she decided to return like with like, and brought the nails of her free hand lightly down chest.

Oh, nails. Warren's head had already been kind of spinning, and then that shiver and those nails were thrown into the mix, and they both earned an inhale, a moment where his lips parted from hers just long enough for him to catch his breath, and then kissing her again with renewed vigor.

If his other hand was knotted up in her clothing, now, he really wasn't paying attention that far.

Ordinarily, Karla might have grumped about that moment required for inhalation, but it gave her the time she needed to move. While there was a persistent little voice trying to convince her to crawl into his lap and straddle him, Karla was ignoring it--or trying to--settling for sliding onto his thighs and perching sideways.

Just in time because then he was kissing her again and piddly little things like moving or breathing or thinking was all washed away in a torrent of Oh, yes please. And if his hand was knotted up in her shirt, it was only fair because her hands were back, tangled up in his hair.

She was in his lap. She was in his lap and they were kissing and her hands were knotted in his hair. She was in his lap and they were kissing and her hands were knotted in his hair, and his brain had completely shut down in favor of possibly just doing this until the end of time.

Forever and ever. They wouldn't even pause for lunches.

The 'forever and ever' part was going to be demonstrated some more, as the hand that had been tracing up and down her spine was now moving up to knot in her hair, and he was biting gently at her lip.
